Sorry, we meant you'll be dead broke

A British man who was told by doctors that he had only a short time to live and then quit his job, sold or gave away nearly all his possessions, stopped paying his mortgage and spent his life savings on a wild shopping spree, only to be told that he's not going to die after all, is threatening to sue because he's broke. Said John Brandick, 62: "When they tell you you've got a limited time and everything, you do enjoy life. I'm really pleased that I've got a second chance in life... but if you haven't got no money after all this, which is my fault -- I spent it all -- they should really pay something back." Brandick was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer two years ago and told he didn't have long to live. A year later doctors informed him that his "tumor" was, in fact, a non-life-threatening inflammation.
